The College of Law cordially invites our in-house counsel alumni to the attend the DePaul Law In-House Counsel Network Reception. This annual reception provides in-house counsel alumni the opportunity to network with each other, while learning about the network and future engagement opportunities.

Family Law Symposium: Understanding the Intersection of Divorce, Mental Health, & Substance Abuse

The Schiller DuCanto & Fleck Family Law Center will host its annual family law symposium on the intersection of divorce, mental health, and substance abuse with respect to the child, as well as to the representation of one or both parents in these cases. This interdisciplinary event will address:
 

• How to work with clients struggling with their mental health and/or substance use
• Testing for substance abuse in cases
• Counseling for mental health concerns
• How to navigate cases when substance abuse allegations are made
• What can be done to protect the best interests of a child when their parents have mental health or substance abuse concerns
• Practical tools to help parties address these concerns and work to ensure the safety of a child.

Attorney & Law Student Free Legal Answers Pro Bono Clinic for National Pro Bono Week

The Public Interest Law Initiative (PILI) and DePaul University College of Law are partnering to host an Attorney & Student Free Legal Answers Pro Bono Clinic Day on October 22 in honor of National Pro Bono Week. All current law students, alumni, and other attorneys are invited to participate. Attorneys will be trained on how to answer civil legal aid questions posted on PILI's Free Legal Answers website by Illinois residents needing legal help and will work with students to help them research and draft responses.
