Mission Statement

DePaul University College of Law is committed to improving society by educating purpose-driven lawyers who will serve the profession and the public with integrity and compassion. The College strives to provide an academically rigorous, experiential, community-engaged education that prepares students to contribute as leaders in the diverse world of legal practice. Faculty, staff, and students together create a supportive and collegial community that generates opportunities for innovative research and creative problem-solving and encourages a spirit of open inquiry and intellectual pluralism. As an integral part of a Vincentian university, the College embraces a tradition of service to others and is dedicated to fostering inclusion, diversity, and equity in the academy and the legal profession, promoting social and racial justice in society, enhancing access to the legal system for the most vulnerable, and upholding the dignity of all persons.

I hope that our community will be inspired by this mission statement and continue to further its values in the great work that you do.  The values embodied in this statement guide my work as dean and are those that I already share with our external constituencies, including alumni, bar associations, and community partners.
