The Honorable Thomas M. Durkin (JD '78, DHL '14) was recently profiled by Bloomberg Law, highlighting his and his brother
Jim's paths and careers in public service. Judge Durkin is a Senior U.S.
District Judge of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois
and is a member of the College of Law's Dean's Advisory Council.
1980s:
Janet G.
Betts ('82) has joined Spencer Fane LLP as an of counsel in the
firm's Corporate and Business Transactions & Real Estate practice groups.
The
Honorable Kirk Dillard ('82) has joined the board of directors
for Intersect Illinois, an organization seeking to bring economic growth and
jobs to Illinois. Kirk is the chairman of the Regional Transportation Authority
and a partner at Locke Lord LLP.
1990s:
Dr. Kaveh T.
Safavi ('94) has been reelected to Easterseals National Board
of Directors. Dr. Safavi works as the Senior Managing Director of Global Health
at Accenture.
The
Honorable Jonathan E. Hawley ('97) has been confirmed by the
U.S. Senate to a lifetime judicial appointment to serve as a U.S. District
Judge of the U.S. District Court for the Central District of Illinois. Prior to
the appointment, Judge Hawley served as a U.S. Magistrate Judge.
Henry F.
McRoberts ('97) has been named city attorney for Kingsford,
Mich.
Robert W.
Karr, Jr. ('99) has rejoined Barnes & Thornburg as a
partner in the firm's Corporate Department. Bob brings over 30 years of
experience working with Japanese companies on complex domestic and
international transactional and operational matters and most recently served as
chief legal officer and senior vice president of administration for Blommer
Chocolate Company, a wholly owned subsidiary of Japan-based Fuji Oil Holdings,
Inc.
2000s:
The
Honorable Michael J. Zink ('04) has been appointed by the
Illinois Supreme Court as a judge of the Circuit Court of Cook County. Prior to
the appointment, Judge Zink was an equity partner at Starr, Bejgiert, Zink
& Rowells with over 20 years of experience in private practice.
2010s:
Cailee
Alderman ('13) has been named to the Chicago Daily Law
Bulletin's 5th Annual Women in the Law list. The list recognizes and honors
influential women in law who work to mentor and promote other women in the
field, act as shining examples of leadership and achieve success in the legal
community. Cailee is a partner at the family law firm of Kogut & Wilson.
Hannah L.
Sadler ('15) has joined GLS Capital as a vice president and a
member of the patent investment team. GLS Capital is one of the world's largest
private investment firms focused on litigation finance.
