Darrick Graduated from Northern Illinois College of Law in 2014. Darrick’s pursuit of a career in higher education started in his second year of law school while serving as Special Assistant to the Director of Admissions for NIU Law. In this role he was able to work with students one on one and provide insight and advice on the path to law school and what to expect. As a 2L Darrick served as the Dean of Delta Theta Phi Professional Legal Fraternity and a Student Mentor for the NIU Women’s Law Caucus. Darrick transitioned into a role as research assistant for Dean Jennifer Rosato Perea as a 3L researching topics including implicit bias, microaggressions, and diversity within higher education. After graduation Darrick continued in higher education as career services advisor beginning in 2015 working with students on developing resumes and cover letters as well as interview coaching and developing a strong LinkedIn profile. Darrick transitioned into student advising where he provided guidance and coaching to students throughout their programs outside of their career search. Darrick believes that a good resume is just the beginning of a successful career search and looks forward to the opportunity to continue to assist the next generation of attorneys reach their goal.
