Austin Favory will graduate from DePaul University College of Law in December of 2018. Sitting down with E-Pulse, Austin described his academic history, provided insight to his interest in patent law, and gave practical advice for current and future students to succeed in law school.
Austin, originally from Indiana, has been living in Chicago for about 9 years. Prior to law school, he attended Indiana University for undergraduate studies and then earned his master’s degree in Biological Sciences from DePaul University. Following the completion of his master’s program, Austin worked closely with many hospitals, research institutions, and pharmaceutical/ biotech companies as a technical specialist. This sparked Austin’s interest in law and most notably, patent law with a focus on health, biotech and life sciences.
Following his completion of law school, Austin plans on taking the February bar exam, traveling for as long as possible, and then entering the legal field in intellectual property, with a focus on patent litigation. Outside the craziness of law school, Austin enjoys golfing, going to as many concerts as possible, traveling, and living in Chicago with his wife and dog.
His advice to rising 1Ls and 2Ls is to go on vacation immediately after every finals period and not think about law school at all.
We at E-Pulse wish Austin the very best as he finishes his 3L year and enters into the legal field!
