Kate Reynolds graduated from the University of Illinois at Springfield with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Women and Gender Studies. Notably, Kate completed her collegiate degree in three years, and her legal interest arose when she shadowed the State’s Attorney. After graduation, Kate immediately began her law school journey at DePaul University College of Law.
Initially, Kate was interested in human trafficking prevention, but her focus has since shifted to Health Law. Her interest in health surfaced during her first year of law school, through the medical malpractice and health cases in her Civil Procedure and Torts classes. Particularly, her favorite legal class was Bioethics with Professor Resnicoff, due to the subject matter and policy based arguments of the course. Kate joined the Health Law Institute during her first year of law school. The Institute has provided her with many connections, and given her great advice.
Kate advises rising first and second year law students to take classes outside of their interests. Despite her health focus, she took U.S. Foreign Relation’s Law with Professor Coll, which broadened her horizons. After graduation, Kate will be studying for the Bar Exam and continuing to work at the Medical Prosecutions Unit for the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation. In the future, Kate aspires to work in risk management department within a hospital setting.
