There are several ways for alumni to stay involved with DePaul University College of Law. One of the best ways to interact with students is by participating in a program through the Office of Professional & Career Development (PCD). Whether it is by sitting on an information panel, participating in an on-campus interview or helping students by becoming a mentor, alumni can have a very positive effect on students success.
Sit on a professional panel: Throughout the year, the Office of Professional & Career Development plans numerous panel presentations to allow our students to interact with lawyers and to learn about what it means to be an attorney. Panel topics range from discussions about specific areas of legal practice to general programs on professionalism and networking. The most engaging panels feature successful alumni who offer important perspectives and knowledge to students. Contact PCD with interest in panel participation.
Interview DePaul law students: Are you an attorney working at a firm that is hiring law students? Working with the Office of Professional & Career Development offers an easy way for firms and businesses to interview DePaul students. For more information, visit the recruiting page.
Mock Interviewer: The Office of Professional & Career Development offers a 1L mock interview program to provide students with their first opportunity to sharpen their legal interviewing skills in our 1L professional development program, Preparing to Practice. In addition to the 1L mock interview program, the Office of Professional & Career Development also connects alumni with 2Ls, 3Ls, and alumni interested in honing their interview skills through mock interviews. Each mock interview lasts 30 minutes, with 20 minutes for interviewing and 10 minutes of interviewer feedback to assist the student in enhancing his/her skills. For your convenience, mock interviews can be conducted at your place of business and the office can provide a list of common interview questions to aid in conducting the interview.
