DePaul University College of Law's Schiller DuCanto & Fleck Family Law Center and the Child & Family Law Association combined to host a welcome reception for incoming and returning family law students. The event's crowd consisted of a significant number of law students, alumni, faculty, staff, and members of the Family Law Center’s Advisory Board, all of whom share a connection to the subject and its practice.

Notable participants spoke about the importance of family law to the school and the legal community as a whole. Cheryl Price, executive director of the Schiller DuCanto & Fleck Family Law Center, informed guests about the center's achievements and operations, particularly how it advises and assists students interested in this field of law. Dean Jennifer Rosato Perea explained her interest in family law based on how it encompasses a wide range of topics, such as tax, constitutional, and real estate law. Evan Compton, the president of the Child & Family Law Association, discussed how his organization further expands DePaul's commitment to family law by encouraging student involvement and attempting to develop a family law moot court team.

The event also provided important networking opportunities. Students connected with professionals who gave guidance on choosing classes, finding internships, job hunting, and volunteering.
