Karl Lockhart is an assistant professor of law at DePaul University.  He focuses his research and teaching on the intersections of corporate law and other business-related topics.  His scholarship has been published in the Virginia Law Review, the Boston College Law Review, and the Georgetown Journal of International Law.

Prior to entering the legal academy, Professor Lockhart worked as a lawyer in both the corporate and investigations practice groups at Hogan Lovells, where he was twice seconded to the firm’s Singapore office for matters in South Asia, Southeast Asia and Oceania.  He also has extensive experience in Africa, having consulted for a private equity company in Morocco, interned at the World Bank’s International Finance Corporation in South Africa and provided advice to early-stage start-ups in Zambia.  In addition to his work in private practice, Professor Lockhart clerked for Judge E. Grady Jolly, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, and Chief Judge Emeritus Michael W. Mosman, U.S. District Court for the District of Oregon.  He is an Order of the Coif graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law, where he served on the editorial board of the Virginia Law Review, and a magna cum laude graduate of Boston College, where he studied linguistics.​
