Alejandro Ortega is an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Criminal Division of the United States Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Illinois. Prior to joining the Department of Justice as a federal prosecutor in 2019, Ortega worked in private practice in New York City for two international law firms where he specialized in white collar defense, internal investigations, and commercial litigation. From 2015-2016, Ortega clerked for the Honorable Anthony J. Trenga on the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, in Alexandria, Virginia.
Ortega is a proud board member of the Legal Prep Charter Academy on Chicago's west side, as well as the United States Global Leadership Coalition, which advocates for multilateralism and diplomacy between the United States and its global allies.
