Ainat Margalit is director of the Consumer Practice Group at Legal Aid Chicago where she focuses on homeownership preservation, bankruptcy and consumer protection. She has dedicated her career to serving the public interest and championing consumer rights is her passion. Before Legal Aid Chicago, Ainat worked in the private sector in plaintiff-side consumer rights litigation and before that state government. Ainat is the 2018 recipient of Chicago-Kent Law School’s Abraham Lincoln Marovitz Public Interest Award and the 2018 recipient of the Jerold S. Solovy Equal Justice Award. In August 2025, she finished a three year term on the ABA’s Standing Committee for Legal Aid and Indigent Defense (SCLAID). In March 2025, Ainat was inducted as a fellow in the 36th class of the American College of Bankruptcy Professionals.
