​​​Theodore Thomas is an assistant public defender with the Law Office of the Cook County Public Defender.  Currently assigned to the Homicide Task Force, he also has been assigned to the Felony Trial Division at the Leighton Criminal Courthouse and the Misdemeanor and Traffic Division of the Maywood Courthouse.  Thomas exclusively represents indigent clients charged with murder and related offenses, and during his more than 10 years with the Office, he has tried over 60 jury trials.  Aside from zealously representing his clients, Thomas is passionate about mentoring and teaching law students and attorneys.  He is the head coach of the Mock Trial Program and an adjunct professor of trial advocacy at DePaul College of Law.  Over the years, he also has presented various topics related to trial advocacy and evidence to attorneys for continuing legal education.
