James A. Clark has taught at DePaul Law since 1984. He currently directs the law school's innovative Litigation Laboratory, which brings lawyers and law students together to analyze, critique and develop lawyers' pending cases. Practitioners bring their actual, ongoing cases to the class and collaborate with students, allowing students to learn litigation skills in practical, experiential ways. Clark also teaches the same course at the University of Chicago School of Law. He was previously a litigation partner with a major, national law firm where he headed the firm's litigation training and led the firm's pro bono programs. He was elected to the Order of the Coif, and after graduating from Case Western's law school, he clerked for the U.S. District Court in Ohio.
