Elizabeth Botti has handled criminal appeals for 20 years, both in private practice and in the public sector. She currently works as an assistant appellate defender with the Office of the State Appellate Defender, where she has worked for the majority of her career. Botti has argued numerous times before the Illinois Appellate Court and the Illinois Supreme Court; has lectured on various topics; and has co-authored the Illinois Handbook of Criminal Law Decisions (2009), a leading legal resource for both criminal defense attorneys and prosecutors. Botti graduated from DePaul College of Law, with honors and in the top five percent of her class, in 2001.
