DePaul Law proudly announces that Emma Soglin (’25) has been awarded a 2024 Skadden Fellowship, one of the most prestigious opportunities for aspiring public interest attorneys. Dubbed the "legal Peace Corps" by the
Los Angeles Times, the Skadden Fellowship Foundation funds two-year legal projects that provide life-changing support to underserved communities.
Soglin exemplifies DePaul Law’s commitment to graduating purpose-driven lawyers dedicated to serving marginalized communities. After graduation, she will join the Moran Center for Youth Advocacy in Evanston/Skokie, Illinois, where she will lead a project to expand the center's community-based legal clinic. Her work will focus on providing critical advocacy for recently arrived immigrant families, addressing essential legal needs such as immigration,
housing and other civil matters.
Reflecting on the fellowship, Soglin shared, "I am deeply honored to receive a Skadden Fellowship and to work with the Moran Center to support immigrant families in my hometown. This project allows me to pursue my passion for providing holistic legal services and empowering individuals to achieve stability and independence."
Soglin’s fellowship project reflects her deep commitment to client-centered, whole-person legal advocacy. By addressing interconnected challenges like housing insecurity and immigration status, her work will empower underrepresented communities and promote lasting change.

Skadden Fellowship Foundation has supported 990 fellows in creating systemic change through innovative legal projects. Fellows are selected through a rigorous process based on their vision for impactful legal advocacy and their ability to meet the needs of underserved populations.
