On June 3, 2021, the DePaul Asylum and Immigration Law Clinic hosted a stakeholder meeting with the National Visa Center. The National Visa Center is a part of the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Consular Affairs, responsible for processing immigrant visa applications for consular officer adjudication. Consular Officer Alex Jones joined the meeting to answer questions on visa adjudication trends, provided updates on the functioning of consulates and embassies post-COVID, and advised on troubleshooting typical processing issues. The meeting was attended by Clinic staff, the Clinic's community-based partner organizations, and representatives from the AILA executive board.
