Suparna Malempati joins DePaul Law as a visiting faculty member for the 2021-2022 academic year and will teach Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure I: Investigation and related courses. Professor Malempati, whose scholarship focuses on ethics and advocacy in juvenile law, says, “I am excited to join the DePaul Law community and am looking forward to sharing my passion for criminal law.”
Professor Malempati comes to DePaul from Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School, where she is an associate professor teaching Criminal Procedure, Juvenile Law and Appellate Advocacy. She came to law school teaching after 15 years in practice, during which she served as a public defender and managing attorney in the juvenile court. Professor Malempati is a certified instructor with the National Institute for Trial Advocacy and sits on the boards of the National Association of Legal Advocacy Educators and the Georgia Association of Counsel for Children. She earned her JD from George Washington University Law School and her BA in Psychology from Dartmouth College.
