AILC Staff invited to speak at USCIS

​​​​​​​​AILC Staff invited to speak at USCIS Law Enforcement Conference​

On May 20, 2021, Asylum and Immigration Law Clinic Director Sioban Albiol and staff attorney Nicole Minnis spoke at the U.S. Immigration and Citizenship Service Law Enforcement Virtual Conference. The theme for the conference was “Working with Immigrant Victims of Crimes". They were invited by the USCIS Chicago Field Office Community Liaison officer to discuss immigrant eligibility for U visas and law enforcement's role in the process. Other speakers included representatives from the Department of Homeland Security's The Blue Campaign; Immigration & Customs Enforcement's Victim's Assistance Program, the USCIS Fraud Detection and National Security Directorate, and the Deputy Chief of the Round Lake Beach, IL police departments. Attendees included various law enforcement officers from within the USCIS District 34, which includes Illinois, Missouri, Wisconsin, and Indiana
