Admission Requirements
All MLS applicants are required to have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited U.S. college or university, or the foreign equivalent from a university authorized to confer such a degree by the country in which it is located.
When to Apply
- Fall Semester (begins in August): July 1
- Spring Semester (begins in January): November 1
Standard Application
All MLS applicants are required to have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited U.S. college or university, or the foreign equivalent from a university authorized to confer such a degree by the country in which it is located. Foreign-educated applicants from institutions where English is not the primary language will need to register for the TOEFL, IELTS or DuoLingo English Test (DET) and provide the College of Law with their scores as part of their application for admission to the MJ program.
International applicants should submit the following application materials:
- Completed application (required)
- $40 Nonrefundable application fee (required)
- A personal statement not exceeding two pages (required)
- Official undergraduate and graduate transcripts for all degrees received (required). International transcripts must be evaluated. Transcripts will be evaluated on a course-by-course basis by LSAC CAS, WES, ECE, or from another organization approved by the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES). A current list of NACES members can be viewed here.
- A current resume (required - should not exceed two pages)
- TOEFL/IELTS/DET score: TOEFL 90iBT, TOEFL 4.5 overall score (on the new 1-6 scale), 6.5 on the IELTS or 115 on the Duolingo English Test.
- Letters of recommendation, while optional, are highly recommended
