Center for Jewish Law & Judaic Studies

About the Center

The Center for Jewish Law & Judaic Studies (JLJS) offers students, faculty and community members the opportunity to explore Jewish legal and ethical thought through a multidisciplinary lens. Grounded in DePaul’s commitment to inclusion, service and academic excellence, JLJS fosters conversations at the intersection of tradition and contemporary legal practice.

Directed by Professor Steven Resnicoff—who holds advanced Orthodox rabbinic ordination from the late Rabbi Moshe Feinstein—the Center provides a platform for lectures, public events and continuing legal education (CLE) programming that connect Jewish law to today’s legal and societal issues.

JLJS carries out its mission through the following core commitments:

  • Educating diverse audiences on the ongoing relevance of Jewish law and ethics
  • Providing CLE programs on legal issues intersecting with Jewish tradition
  • Advancing rigorous scholarship in Jewish law and related disciplines

DePaul University and its College of Law have long supported Jewish students and fostered inclusive learning environments for all. Building on this tradition, JLJS provides students with access to leading scholars, meaningful mentorship and opportunities to engage with Jewish law in ways that bridge academic learning and real-world impact.
