Student-Related Opportunities
Speaking to Students
Student organizations and the Office of Professional & Career Development (PCD) often seek alumni to speak to students on a variety of topics, including job search techniques, practice areas and settings, alternative legal careers, on-the-job success strategies and building professional relationships. Talks may be as an individual presenter, a co-presenter with PCD staff, part of a panel discussion or conversations during a networking event. Please contact Katie Liss for more information.
Moot Court Judge
Volunteers are needed to judge the preliminary and championship rounds of moot court oral arguments during the Intramural Bauer Moot Court Competition in the Fall. Judges typically commit an hour of judging and may receive CLE credit for both judging and preparation time. Please contact Maria Pagliari for more information.
Student Organization Advisor
Student organizations may benefit from the input and insight of an alumnus who was a member of the organization while they were in law school. Advisors are asked to commit to serving in an advisory role for one academic year, including meeting with the student organization at least once each semester and attending at least one of the organization's events during the year. Admitted Students Programs
The Office of Law Admissions is looking for alumni volunteers to assist in recruiting diverse and talented students. Prospective and admitted students appreciate the opportunity to meet and speak with alumni. Alumni can become involved by: (1) serving as panelists at open house programs and admitted student days; (2) calling or emailing admitted students to congratulate them on their admission; and (3) attending recruitment fairs and college and universities. Most recruitment functions take place from September through February. Special programs for admitted students take place in March and April. Litigation Lab
Litigation Lab is a collaborative skills course in which students actively work with lawyers to prepare cases for trial. Classes of approximately 12 students work with a different attorney on a new case each week. During class, students discuss and debate the most challenging case issues with the presenting attorney. Students may be asked to offer their reactions to clients, exhibits or videos; answer case questionnaires; or help write jury instructions. Attorneys pay $350 for a two-hour class session, which generally includes the participation of a trial consultant. Attorneys also receive MCLE credit for their preparation and presentation time.
Career-Related Opportunities
Mock Interviewer
The Office of Professional & Career Development (PCD) offers a 1L mock interview program to provide students with their first opportunity to sharpen their legal interviewing skills in our 1L professional development program, Preparing to Practice (P2P). In addition to the 1L mock interview program, PCD also connects alumni with 2Ls, 3Ls and alumni interested in honing their interview skills through mock interviews.
Each mock interview lasts 30 minutes, with 20 minutes for interviewing and 10 minutes of interviewer feedback to assist the student in enhancing his/her skills. For your convenience, mock interviews can be conducted at your place of business and the office can provide a list of common interview questions to aid in conducting the interview. DePaulConnect
DePaulConnect is a network of committed DePaul University alumni from varied backgrounds and levels of experience, representing myriad degrees and industries. Each serves as a career mentor, volunteering one-on-one, offering practice interviews and job shadowing opportunities, supporting job fairs, speaking at events and leading roundtable discussions.

Class Reunion Committee
An active class reunion committee is vital to the success of any reunion celebration. The time commitment for volunteers is minimal and it is a great way to reconnect with your classmates. Law Reunion committee members are asked to help update classmate contact information, reach out to classmates about attending Law Reunion, and encourage classmates to participate in the reunion giving initiative.
CLE Presentations for Alumni
Presenting a CLE program for fellow DePaul Law alumni is a great way to network and market your practice while earning MCLE credit. The College of Law offers CLE programs on a variety of topics each year. Please contact Nicole Pinkey for more information.
Firm or Corporate Giving Champion
Firm and Corporate Giving Campaigns create a DePaul Law community within a given organization by connecting alumni with each other and with DePaul. A campaign may include special DePaul events, volunteer opportunities, correspondence and an optional giving component. By volunteering to serve as a Firm or Corporate Champion, you will be acting as the primary liaison between DePaul Law and your organization.
