Cassidy obtained his bachelor's degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and his law degree from Chicago-Kent College of Law, where he graduated with high honors. Since joining the Office of the State Appellate Defender in September 2005, he has argued cases before the Illinois Appellate Court, the Illinois Supreme Court, and the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals. Cassidy has been an adjunct professor at DePaul University College of Law since the spring of 2011.
