Joseph M. Gump ('87) has retired as Cook County assistant
public defender after 30 years.
The Hon. Franklin U. Valderrama ('88) has been nominated
to the court of the Northern District of Illinois.
Michael C. Cafferty ('00) recently passed away. Mike
rebuilt his life after being paralyzed in a car accident at 18 years old,
graduating from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and then
the College of Law in 2000. He worked nearly 20 years for The Office of
the Cook County Public Guardian. More information on Mike's life, family

Christopher M. Dely ('04) has joined the Chicago-based
litigation group of Hinckley Allen.
Kelley A. Gandurski ('04) was appointed as corporation
counsel of the City of Evanston, Ill.
April A. Vesely ('06) joined Swanson, Martin & Bell
LLP as an associate. She practices in the areas of asbestos, toxic tort
and construction litigation, as well as product liability, commercial
litigation and business disputes.
Sarah E. Flotte ('08) has joined Perkins Coie's labor and employment
practice. She works in the firm's Chicago office.
Maxwell Rizzo ('10) was elected as a shareholder of Nathan
Sommers Jacobs in Houston. He concentrates his practice on commercial
lending, finance, real estate and corporate transactions.
Elizabeth A. Brodzinski ('11) was elected shareholder at
Banner Witcoff. She works out of the firm's Chicago office and focuses
her practice on trademark, copyright, advertising and new media matters.
Leah M. Farmer ('13) has joined the Atlanta office of
Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton as an associate on the labor &
employment team.
Maria C. Schletker ('14) was honored with the Sword of
Justice Award by the Kentucky Commonwealth's Attorneys Association in
recognition of individual achievement and outstanding work as a Kentucky
prosecutor. She is a Kenton County assistant commonwealth attorney.
