Health Law Certificate for Health Students & Professionals

The Health Law Certificate* for Health Students & Professionals is designed for students interested in gaining a greater understanding of legal doctrine in the health care field. The program will familiarize students with the legal and regulatory issues they will encounter in their work, allowing them to more effectively deal with the legal concerns of patients and to better communicate with legal counsel throughout their careers.

Health Law Certificate students move through the program as a cohort of no more than 25 students. Students complete a 12 credit-hour, four-topic course series to obtain the certificate in one school year while taking medical school courses. The certificate program is taught by DePaul health law faculty in a flexible online learning format.

  • LAW 950 Health Policy & the Law
  • LAW 951 Health Law Regulations
  • LAW 952 Health Care Delivery Systems
  • LAW 953 Quality of Care & Malpractice Liability

The certificate program is offered as one medical school elective available to M1s and other medical school students.

Students in good standing will be eligible to enroll in the DePaul University College of Law Health Law Certificate program by completing the application form.

Each cohort has a maximum capacity of 25 students. DePaul reserves the right to cancel the program if fewer than 20 students enroll. Other than a completed application and, if necessary, educational transcripts, there is no application fee, standardized test or other separate documentation required of Rush University students.

Applications should be sent to:
