3L Spotlight: Cassey Shashaty

Cassey Shashaty attended Florida State University for undergrad and received a Bachelor of Science in political science and international affairs. After graduation, she worked for two years as a paralegal at a Family and Disability law firm in Tallahassee, Florida. She moved to Chicago in August of 2014 to begin law school at DePaul University where she has been a full-time student for the past three years.

DePaul has helped Cassey prepare her for practice in Health Law from the lectures by guest speakers hosted by the Jaharis Health Law Institute. The health law lectures were informing and opened her eyes to the different aspects of health law. If Cassey had one important piece of advice to give to rising 1L’s and 2L’s it would be to network as much as possible. Additionally, Cassey emphasized the importance of being grateful for all the experiences, good or bad, because they will all be valuable learning lessons.

After graduation, Cassey plans to work for the summer at the law firm she has worked at since September, which has offered her an associate attorney position after passing the bar exam. DePaul has gained another influential alumna and wishes her all the best!
