3L Spotlight: Anthony Lopez

Anthony Lopez will be graduating this May. He grew up in Miami, Florida, where he received his bachelor’s degree in Psychology. After completing his undergraduate degree, Anthony and his wife decided that a move to Chicago for law school would be the best decision. The pair wanted to live in a big city that had ample opportunities for careers in the law.

As a way to get involved his first year, Anthony joined the Jaharis Health Law Institute. He became a staff writer for the DePaul Journal of Health Care Law his second year. After that, Anthony was made the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal his final year at DePaul, as well as the Managing Editor for DePaul’s E-Pulse Newsletter. Anthony has immersed himself in the wide variety of health law courses available at DePaul during his time here. He believes that the breadth of course offerings in the field truly prepare you are a career in health care law. His favorite health law course was Health Care Fraud and Abuse because it gave him a summary of all of the important areas of health law.

As Anthony leaves us this May, he will be joining the Banking and Finance practice group at Mayer Brown LLP, here in Chicago. Finally, as a bit of advice for rising 1Ls and 2Ls, Anthony suggests that you network in every field and in as many ways as possible. You never know when or where a job offer or area of interest may come along.
