Neighborhood Legal Assistance Project
As its name suggests, PBCSI’s newest project aims to meet some of the most pressing legal needs of our neighbors in the South Loop. The Neighborhood Legal Assistance Project (NLAP) operates twice a month at a free breakfast hosted by the First United Methodist Church at the Chicago Temple, providing free legal information and advice about expunging or sealing criminal records and obtaining state IDs. With the assistance of a supervising attorney, trained law student volunteers serve homeless guests whose attempts to find work, housing, or public benefits have been hindered by their criminal records or lack of state identification.
For more information about NLAP, please contact PBCSI Director, Cheryl Price at cprice13@depaul.edu.
