Academic Programs

Prague, Czech Republic & Vienna, Austria

July 22 - August 15, 2013

Prague, Czech Republic & Vienna, AustriaDePaul University College of Law invites you to attend its summer study abroad program in Prague, Czech Republic, and Vienna, Austria. We spend two weeks in each of these fascinating locales.

Prague is one of the most beautiful and historic cities in all of Europe. You can: explore the castle, so large that it contains an entire town within its walls; wander across the Charles Bridge, which has stood for a millennium; and stand under the Clock Tower as the carved figures emerge at the top of the hour. Our host institution, the University of New York in Prague, is located adjacent to both the subway and tram, making the entire city easily accessible.

The city of Vienna was once the seat of one of the greatest empires the world has known. It is graced with a remarkable treasure of imperial buildings and treasures of a bygone age. The city also is home to numerous international organizations, including the U.N. Atomic Energy Agency, the U.N. Industrial Development Organization and OPEC. Vienna University of Economics, DePaul's other host institution, is the largest business and economics university in Europe, and its programs are consistently ranked among the world's best in business, tax and commercial law.

The following courses are taught by faculty from DePaul College of Law. Faculty from the host institutions guest lecture on various aspects of Czech, Austrian and EU law.

Credits: Participants earn five credit hours upon successful completion of all coursework.

Tours: The program includes an overnight trip to Brno, the second largest city in the Czech Republic, and visits to both the Supreme and Constitutional courts. In Prague, there are visits to a local court, law firm and Parliament, and, in Vienna, the Austrian Supreme Court and Parliament.
