Mary Ann BeckerLegal Writing InstructorMary Ann Becker joined the College of Law as an instructor of Legal Analysis, Research & Communication in fall 2007. She holds a bachelor’s degree in French language and literature from Northwestern University and earned her JD from DePaul, graduating summa cum laude and Order of the Coif. While a student, she was symposium editor of the DePaul Law Review and a legal writing teaching assistant. Following law school, Becker gained litigation experience at several large Chicago firms. Prior to joining the DePaul faculty full-time, she was an attorney in the private client group of the international firm McDermott Will & Emery, while also serving as an adjunct professor of legal writing at DePaul. Becker also has spent time volunteering as a tutor and mentor for Chicago Boys Hope, an organization dedicated to helping academically capable and motivated children in need meet their full potential. In addition to legal instruction, she teaches a seminar on law and literature in DePaul's College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences each spring.
