John Conroy is a former award-winning investigative journalist published in the New York Times, Washington Post, Boston Globe, Chicago Tribune, and many other publications. He is also the author of two books (Unspeakable Acts, Ordinary People: the Dynamics of Torture and Belfast Diary: War as a Way of Life ) and the play My Kind of Town (set against the backdrop of the Chicago police torture scandal, which he was instrumental in exposing). The New York Times hailed Unspeakable Act’s "inspired reporting," the Boston Globe called Belfast Diary “an essential guide for Americans,” and Time Magazine praised the “spellbinding power” of My Kind of Town while Rolling Stone called it “a masterpiece of a new play.” At DePaul, Conroy serves as director of investigations in the Legal Clinic, working directly with students to develop and craft investigations.
