Biography

Allen Moye joined the college of law in January 2005. According to Glen Weissenberger, “as director of the law library, Allen has one of the most complicated and demanding positions on the college of law’s senior administrative staff. He oversees a budget of over $2 million and a staff of 18 individuals and he serves a wide variety of constituencies which include DePaul College of Law students and faculty; as well as the general public. He also functions in a cooperative capacity with the University librarian to further the implementation of policies which will benefit the users of all DePaul libraries in the university.” He has served on the College of law's diversity, law and technology and the 2007-08 self study committees. Prior to joining DePaul, Mr. Moye was at George Mason University (GMU), in Arlington, Virginia, where he served as associate director for public services. In this position, he managed and administered all facets of daily public services operations including circulation, reference, interlibrary loan, collection development and maintenance, and the use of information instruction technologies. While at GMU, he also implemented and managed a Faculty Liaison Program, which provided library and research services for faculty, and coordinated classes and workshops administered by the library’s professional staff as part of GMU’s legal research, writing and analysis course. Prior to joining GMU, Moye worked as a reference librarian at the University of Richmond law Library, the Chesterfield County Law Library, and the law firm of Allen, Allen & Allen. Additionally, he was a legal editor for Michie Publishing Company in Charlottesville, Virginia. Mr. Moye is an active member of several professional library associations, and he has served as chair of the American Association of Law Libraries committee on diversity; annual program planning committee; and is an active member of its Black Caucus.

Mr. Moye was among the 32 law librarians nationwide featured in “Celebrating Diversity: A Legacy of Minority Leadership in the American Association of Law Libraries” by Carol Avery Nicholson, Ruth Johnson Hill & Vicente E. Garces, (William S. Hein & Co., 2006)

Mr. Moye has a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Howard University, a master’s in library science from Catholic University and a law degree from the University of Richmond.
