Julie L. Campbell, JD, LL.M, CHC is a health law attorney, certified healthcare compliance specialist, clinical medical ethicist, medical-legal scholar, and graduate school educator.

Julie spent the first half of her career as a litigating attorney handling a wide range of legal matters. Over the years, her practice evolved into the health law domain representing physicians and health care institutions on contract matters, consulting on medical malpractice lawsuits, and recently working within the AMA's Litigation Center. Julie is certified in Healthcare Compliance and Clinical Medical Ethics, and is currently a Senior Fellow with the MacLean Center for Clinical Medical Ethics at the University of Chicago.

In 2021, Health Matrix published her article, "Reliability Check on Expert Witness Testimony in Medical Malpractice Litigation: Mandatory Medical Simulation." The article analyzes how bias within the legal process impacts physician behavior, jeopardizes the quality of patient care, increases the cost of care, and leaves both the physicians and patients at risk. Julie's research interests transect the subject areas of law, ethics, medicine, and policy focusing on identifying conflicts of interests, acknowledging the impact they have on provider/facility decision-making, encouraging disclosure and education, and implementing mitigating strategies with an ethical framework in mind.
