Julie Getzels is the Executive Vice President, General Counsel, and Secretary of The Art Institute of Chicago. Before joining the Art Institute in 2003, Julie worked for the University of Chicago Hospitals as the General Counsel of Weiss Memorial Hospital. Her previous positions include Chief Assistant Corporation Counsel for Complex & Policy Litigation in the City of Chicago’s Law Department, Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois in the Criminal Division, and a clerkship with U.S. District Judge Myron H. Thompson. Julie received her law degree from Harvard Law School and a B.A. in History from Yale University. She currently sits on the board of the Heartland Alliance for Human Needs & Human Rights. Julie lives in Chicago with her husband and two children.
