Hugh Eakin is a senior editor of The New York Review of Books and founding editor of the NYRblog. He has written about museums, cultural property, and the antiquities trade for more than a decade for publications including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The New Yorker, and The New York Review. A recipient of grants from The Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting, The Nation Institute Investigative Fund, and the International Reporting Project at Johns Hopkins University, he has reported on culture, politics, and human rights from numerous countries in Europe and the Middle East. He was a Fulbright Scholar at Humboldt University in Berlin, Germany, and has been an adjunct professor at Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism. He completed a BA in History and Literature from Harvard University and an MPhil in Political Thought and Intellectual History from Cambridge University.
